History About the Site
Hi there apparently-bored-reader. So you want to know about the history of forthelose.org and how it came to be? Really? Wow… that’s sad.
Nevertheless I shall help to quench your thirst for knowledge. Lets start with how Rid and I (Jynx) met. It was, what, a couple of years ago, I’d guess 2005 sometime. We were both members on a forum called DarkDemon.org. Basically, it’s a flash / pivot animation forum. Anyway, we were both members there and Rid happened to see one of my crappy-ass animations in pivot. He IM’d me asking for a certain .stk he saw in the animation and, I dunno, something happened where now we basically talk everyday now. So that’s how me and him got married.
So we’re friends and shit for a while. Talk about animations, show eachother animations, have sex with animations, help eachother with animations, play games online, etc, etc. Then in 2007 I created a site for the both of us called Jynx-Anims.frih.net. (Notice the “frih” - it was a free site from FriHost.net.) Since it was a free site and I wasn’t good at ALL with php/mySQL stuff (still ain’t) it was hard to manage so it eventually died off. It was actually recently removed from the frihost servers. (Took them long enough, it’s been inactive for a year now.)
Anyway… there we are again. Going on without a site once again. This is the point where Rid was diagnosed with ass cancer. It was a very tough time for him and me alike, for I was afraid I was going to lose a good friend to the disease. After months of painful surgery and therapy, Rid was miraculously saved. We both rejoiced in God’s good grace.
Then I was able to get a domain and some real hosting. I was all : ). So was Rid, he was all : ) aswell. Once the domain/hosting hurdle was jumped, the next problem - wtf are we gonna call the site? This didn’t take to long, after a day we settled on ForTheLose.com. Friggen bastards already have that domain, so we scooted back to ForTheLose.org. That point on was pretty smooth sailing. I slowly learned how to work with Wordpress as a CMS and was able to butcher a pre-existing theme into looking somewhat unique and ForTheLose.org Version 1.0 was released on Christmas Day 2007.
By January I was already bored of the theme that I had given the site. It looked bland and dark. I was also annoyed that it wasn’t truly MY theme, it was someone else’s that I basically just painted over. So in February 2008, I started work on Version 2.0. Version 2.0 went through many… um… versions (?) before I finally settled on one that looked epiccool. (This one).

So in April of the year 2008AD, ForTheLose.org Version 2.0 was released. I’m definitely likin’ this theme big time, so I REALLY don’t plan on changing it for a while.
That’s basically all for this little wall of text. Hope your happy now.
See ya’.
THEN… in June of 2008AD, ForTheLose.org Version 3.0 was released. This time it sports a cleaner layout, valid code syntax, more features and plugins available to us and the user.
NOW I really don’t plan on editing the template anymore… my plans for this summer (2008) is to finish Madness Cupcake and another secret project Rid and I have been discussing.
You’ll have to wait and see what that is
.
