We all know how annoying those things are, don't we? If you're school is anything like most schools, most likely sites like youtube or myspace will be blocked and you'll be restricted to school-appropriate websites.
What baloney, right? Then to top it off, 99% of proxy sites will be blocked, so you're pretty much stuck with no wait out. Or are you? All you have to do is get a little creative, no biggie...
First I'd recommend you try the FTL Proxy (and click some ads while you're there). If that doesn't work for you, then keep reading. What you'll need is preferably a flash drive with Firefox installed on it. (Or, if you are allowed to download files on school computers, download firefox and save it to your student folder or whatever.) This is the browser you will use from now on.
Open up Firefox and go to Tools > Options. One the box pops up, click Advanced and then the Network tab. Configure how Firefox connects to the internet by clicking Settings.
Once the new box pops up, click the third radio button Manual Proxy Configuration. Leave everything how it is unless I tell you to change it here. First, put in a proxy address in the HTTP Proxy input area. You can get a huge list of those from here. Make sure it is Port 80. (This means select a proxy that goes like this: xxx.xx.xxx.xx:80).
Make sure the radio button for Sockz v5 is selected and that the No Proxy For input area says "localhost, 127.0.0.1".
You're done. Click OK and OK to exit the two popups. You should now be able to browse anywhere you want to online. I use this technique every day, cool stuff
.
Notes
- Try to pick a proxy address near your location, if you pick one too far away, your internet speed will be decreased significantly.
- Samair.com may be blocked at school, so write down a few of the proxy addresses on your home computer.
- If a proxy address doesn't work, try another.
- One address might work one day, and it might not the next. Just keep trying different addresses.
