Lately I've returned to watching one of my favorite TV shows again after quite a while. That show, of course, is Invader ZIM. If you're not familiar with the zany 2001 Nickelodeon animated comedy series, I have no idea what's wrong with you. But just like my movie reviews, I've decided to put up a plot summary of the show for those of you who are unfamiliar with it, along with a clip I've uploaded to YouTube...
Invader ZIM is an eccentric alien soldier from the planet Irk. He was banished from the Irken Empire after nearly destroying his home planet on an early mission. After begging his superiors, the Almighty Tallest Red and Purple, for another chance, they decide to get rid of him once and for all. They trick him into going on a "secret mission" to an obscure planet at the edge of the universe, a planet with the unlikely name of Earth. Their trick works, and now ZIM is intent on bringing down the human race. He disguises himself as a schoolboy, and now the only person who can stop him is one kid - Dib Membrane, a somewhat insane paranormal researcher, who sees straight through ZIM's disguise and is intent on stopping his reign of terror. But neither ZIM nor Dib is very good at their job, and what results is everything imaginable, from a giant hamster destroying the city to both ZIM and Dib being turned into bologna meat.
This post wasn't meant to be anything huge, but I was just wondering if any of you could reflect on watching the show or not. I've followed it since it first aired back in 2001, and have even bought the DVD box set, along with a lot of merchandise to support it. In my opinion, it's Nick's greatest achievement. It was unlike any other show they've made and I was extremely upset when it was canceled. As I've already said though, I still support the show to this day and continue to purchase merchandise and still watch the beloved show.
So what are your thoughts on the show? Did you watch it when you were little, or still do? Let me know what you think about it.
