Ever get really bored while you’re on the computer? Just sittin’ there with nothing to do, circling the same websites over, and over, and over waiting for someone to update something? I know I sometimes feel like this. I don’t feel like animating, working on websites, I don’t feel like doing anything.
Well, I used to feel like that. Not anymore.
Ever since I’ve stumbled across Phun, I’ve never really had nothing to do at the computer. It’s a small little application that is just tons of… well… fun. It’s official name is “Phun - 2D Physics Sandbox,” and I have to admit, it’s a somewhat addiciting little program.
What Does Phun Do?
Simply put, Phun takes real life physics and makes it fun. (See where the “ph” comes from?) When you open the small application, you are welcomed by an empty canvas. Here you can draw circles, squares, or anything you want. You can connect items to eachother or make them hinges so they swing from side to side. These hinges can be turned into motors so you can basically create your own vehicles. (If you want, you can make these motors run by using the arrow keys.) There are other features aswell, such as chains and springs to connect things to eachother. The possi
bilites are endless.
Ever want to make a monster truck drive up a see-saw into a cannon which then flings it into a pool of water on the other side of the room? No? Well you can still do it here if you want. It will take some time and effort, but it can be accomplished.
Lets see… is there anything I forgot?… Well, just for the sake of mentioning, you can also edit such things as gravity, friction, the weight of objects, and how bouncy objects are. There are probably a few more things I’m forgetting, but I’ve told you guys the gist of it here in this post.
I haven’t made any videos of me working with Phun lately, but here’s something I made a few months back, it’s nothing special, but it just gives you an idea of how Phun works.
Want To Download Phun?
The best thing about Phun is that it is free. That’s right, no charge at all, ever. And if you’re worried about downloading a big clunky program, don’t be. Phun is only 3MB big. Here are the download links.
